st_panteleimon_2016On Friday 5 August and Saturday 6 August we had festive services in anticipation of the feast of our patron saint, the Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon, on 9 August.  Prior to the services, our small church was beautifully decorated with flowers by Ekaterina Waters.

On Friday evening All-night Vigil with the blessing of wheat, wine, oil and five loaves was served by the rector of the Archbishop’s Chapel of All Saints of Russia (Croydon, NSW), Priest Simon Nekipelov, and by our parish deacon, Father Martin Naef.  Joining them for the litia and the polyeleos were our parish rector, Priest James Carles, and Priest Dionysios Halim of Saint John the Baptist Skete (Kentlyn, NSW).Continue Reading

st_john_canberra_2016_9Saint John the Baptist Cathedral in Canberra celebrated its parish feast day on Sunday 10 July 2016. The Cathedral rector, His Grace Bishop George accompanied by Protodeacon Alexander Kotlaroff and 2 sub-deacons arrived in Canberra from Sydney on Saturday, 9 July 2016.

The All-night vigil was served at 5pm by His Grace along with the Cathedral dean Archpriest Alexander Morozow, Abbot Sergei from Holy Transfiguration Monastery, Bombala, Protodeacon Alexander Kotlaroff and Deacon Michael Storozhev clerics of Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, Strathfield.

On Sunday morning, Fr Alexander Morozow served the molelen with the lesser blessing of the waters and at 9am the clergy greeted the Cathedral rector. During the reading of the 6th hour, Bishop George tonsured Stephen David into a reader then the Divine Liturgy was celebrated.Continue Reading

croydon_2016_9День Всех Святых, в земле Российской просиявших, отмечается православными во второе воскресенье после Троицы. В этом году 3 июля прихожане и гости сиднейского Архиерейского храма в Кройдоне отметили свой престольный праздник.

Первую службу в этом храме, считавшимся архиерейским и расположенном рядом со зданием Австралийско-Новозеландской епархии Русской Зарубежной Церкви, русские священники отслужили еще в феврале 1960 года. С первого престольного праздника до своего ухода на покой в 1970 году, здесь служил архиепископ Савва. Continue Reading

sobor_concert_russ_club_2016_1В Сиднее состоялся очередной благотворительный концерт молодых исполнителей. Два года подряд такие музыкальные праздники проходили в общественном зале при Петропавловском соборе в Стратфилде. warrnambool_2016_8В праздник Святых Отцов Первого Вселенского Собора (12 июня) на южном курортном берегу штата Виктория, куда горбатые киты приплывают для брачных игр и для выхаживания своих детёнышей, где зимой ветер дует прямо с Антарктики, и температура держится ниже 10 градусов, собрались православные христиане со всего штата Виктория.  Приход в Варрнамбуле не имеет постоянного священника. Литургия совершается только четыре раза в году.  Во все другие воскресные дни служится Обедница. Несмотря на все эти обстоятельства, местные православные люди продолжают свидетельствовать о том, что Свеча православия не угасает и в этом отдалённом уголке зеленого континента.Continue Reading

5ausprotmichaellifuneral16_016_jpgOn Tuesday, May 17, 2016, the anniversary of the reestablishment of unity within the Russian Orthodox Church (2007), the clergymen of the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand celebrated Divine Liturgy in Holy Virgin Protection Church in Cabramatta, having performed vigil and parastas in the presence of the coffin containing the body of the late Mitred Protopriest Michael Li, who died last week.

After Divine Liturgy, His Grace Bishop George of Canberra, Vicar of the Diocese, led the funeral service to a large gathering of worshipers who came to pray for the late pastor. During the eulogies read at the commemorative luncheon that followed the burial, the clergymen and laity stressed the decades of ascetic life of the priest, who endured a great deal of suffering for the sake of Orthodox Christianity, and his humble nature, humility, hard work and love for divine services.Continue Reading

pascha_melbourne_2016_1В ночь на 1 мая в Покровском Кафедральном соборе православные Мельбурна вместе встретили и отпраздновали Пасху. В канун праздника Светлого Христова Воскресения мало кто остается спать дома.

В самый главный праздник верующие целыми семьями приходят на праздничную службу в церковь. Полунощная служба началась около 12 ночи, но люди пришли пораньше. Так как с 8 часов шли чтения «Деяния Святых Апостолов», когда любой человек может подойти и прочитать главу на том языке, который является для него родным.
