Новая волна в Петропавловском соборе

sobor_july_2014_18Далеко виден в Стратфилде шпиль колокольни Петропавловского кафедрального собора. Этот главный русский православный храм в Сиднее был освящен в 1953 году и в прошлом году отмечал свое 60-летие. Ежегодно 12 июля в день святых первоверховных апостолов Петра и Павла собираются сюда люди со всего большого Сиднея и окрестностей отметить вместе с прихожанами престольный праздник.

В этом году этот особенный для прихожан и священства собора день пришелся на субботу, поэтому на праздник смогли прийти священники из других храмов и больше семей с детьми. Солнечным прохладным утром к собору стекались ручейками нарядно одетые люди. Настоятель собора митрополит Иларион в этот раз не смог приехать из Америки, но он попросил своего помощника, епископа Мейфильдского Георгия, викария Восточно-Американской епархии, приехать в Австралию и возглавить праздничную службу. После особенно торжественной службы, поддерживаемой прекрасным хором, зазвонили колокола, все участники службы прошли с иконами вокруг храма крестным ходом, и владыка Георгий окроплял святой водой. sobor_july_2014_11On Friday the 11th and Saturday 12th July 2014, the feast day of Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, divine services were held in the Cathedral, Strathfield NSW in honour of the parish’s feast day. On Friday evening, the All-Night Vigil was led by His Grace Bishop George of Mayfield with parish clergy Archpriest George Lapardin, Priest Simon Nekipeloff, Protodeacon’s Alexander Kotlaroff, Boris Evstigneev, Deacons Constantine Moshegov, Martin Naef, Edward Waters and clergy from neighbouring parishes.

In the early morning the following day, the lessor blessing of the waters was served by Fr Simon and Deacon Constantine Moshegov. At 9am the clergy greeted His Grace Bishop George and the Divine Liturgy commenced. The cathedral was full with the faithful and the choir lead by Nick Kulikov sang reverently.Continue Reading

Bishop George will celebrate the divine services in churches of the Diocese, in particular those that will be celebrating their parish feast days.

Upon his return to the United States, His Grace met with the Director of the Eastern American Diocesan Media Office Reader Peter Lukianov and spoke about the impressions of his trip and life in the Australian Diocese. met_hilarion4Beloved in Christ, the clergy and faithful of the Australian & New Zealand Diocese,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

Through circumstances beyond my control, I am unable to visit the Diocese at the end of this month and for most of July, as I had planned.

I have asked His Grace, Bishop George of Mayfield, my vicar bishop in the Eastern American Diocese, to visit Australia in my place and to celebrate the divine services in our churches, especially those that will be celebrating their parish feast days.

Bishop George is a much respected and loved hierarch of our Church in the United States. He lived for many years in Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville and is well known to many of our clergy who studied at our seminary at the monastery. Vladyka George now heads the Holy Cross Monastery in West Virginia.
