st_nicholas_bris03On Sunday, 30th December 2012, the participants of the Youth Syezd attended the Divine Liturgy at St Nicholas Cathedral, Brisbane.

The liturgy was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad and sung antiphonally by a male choir and a youth choir. His Eminence was co-served by the local clergy and clergy from different parts of the Diocese. On the 6th hour, reader Alexander Paramonov was elevated to the rank of subdeacon and during the Little Entrance, His Eminence awarded priests John Weir and Gabriel Lapardin the right to wear the skufia.Continue Reading

st_seraphim_bris01On Saturday, the 29th of December 2012, the participants of the Youth Syezd attended the All Night Vigil at St Seraphim’s Parish, Brisbane. The vigil was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad and sung by a male choir made up of clergy and parishioners from the 4 parishes in Brisbane. His Eminence was co-served by the local clergy and clergy from different parts of the diocese. The service was followed by a meal in the newly renovated church hall catered by the sisterhood.Continue Reading

Singing at only its third service, the multi-parish Russian Orthodox Male Choir of Brisbane ably rose to the challenge of singing at its first English-language service.  The Vigil service, commemorating Great-Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica, was held at Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church and attracted a large number of visitors who were able to pray with an exceptional standard of liturgical singing, sung in the language of this land.Continue Reading

27 октября на Голд Косте в сербском Богородице-Успенском храме священники сербской и русской православной церкви отслужили совместную торжественную литургию. На службе присутствовали прихожане сербской церкви, брисбенских храмов и русской общины Кирилла и Мефодия Голд Коста.

После причастия состоялось торжественное освещение хлебов. В завершении службы священники сербской и русской церкви поздравили всех присутствующих с праздником, отметив, что Сербию и Россию связывает многолетняя дружба, укрепляемая православной верой, уважением и взаимной помощью.Continue Reading

В минувшее воскресенье, 21 октября, мы совершили паломническую поездку с учащимися воскресной школы и их родителями. Поездка была посвящена православным храмам нашего города. Надо сказать, готовились мы к паломничеству основательно, так как для многих это было впервые в жизни. Вдохновителем и руководителем нашего путешествия был наш батюшка – о.Александр. Итак, после воскресной литургии, мы отправились в путь.

Сначала мы поехали в греческий храм в честь св. апостола Андрея Первозванного, так же при этом храме располагается резиденция владыки Амфилохия, архиепископа Новой Зеландии и экзарха Океании. Там нас уже ждал монах Фаддей, он рассказал нам о храме, мы вместе с детьми пропели молитвы, и все приложились к иконе. Подкрепившись сладостями, которыми угостил наших детей добрый монах, мы отправились во второй греческий храм, в честь Благовещения Божией Матери. В этом храме на Пасху вечером собираются все православные священники Веллингтона для совершения великой вечерни с чтением воскресного евангелия на разных языках. Это, наверное, самый большой и самый красивый православный храм нашей столицы. Continue Reading

On Sunday 1st/14th October 2012 the Holy Protection Cathedral in Melbourne celebrated its Parish Feast Day.

There were six  priests and three deacons present for the Blessing of the Water, Divine Liturgy and procession around the church.

Over three hundred people attended the trapeza following the services.
