st_seraphim_bris01On Saturday, the 29th of December 2012, the participants of the Youth Syezd attended the All Night Vigil at St Seraphim’s Parish, Brisbane. The vigil was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad and sung by a male choir made up of clergy and parishioners from the 4 parishes in Brisbane. His Eminence was co-served by the local clergy and clergy from different parts of the diocese. Singing at only its third service, the multi-parish Russian Orthodox Male Choir of Brisbane ably rose to the challenge of singing at its first English-language service.  The Vigil service, commemorating Great-Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica, was held at Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church and attracted a large number of visitors who were able to pray with an exceptional standard of liturgical singing, sung in the language of this land.Continue Reading

2 сентября 2012 года в  Русском Общественном Центре Квинсленда (Брисбен, Австралия) состоялось открытие Фестиваля русского искусства в Брисбене  «Из России с любовью». Столь грандиозное событие было посвящено 200-летие Победы России над Армией Наполеона, 70-летию  дипломатических отношений России и Австралии и 40-летию Русского Общественного центра.

В течении двух месяцев шла интенсивная подготовка к этому празднику. Интерес к фестивалю был вызван не только у русских Квинсленде, но и у австралийцев. В день открытия зал был переполнен гостями.Continue Reading

On Friday 7 September at Our Lady of Vladimir Parish, Rocklea, the Vigil for the Patronal Feastday of this parish was served.  Especially noteworthy was the newly-formed Men’s Choir, which comprised members from each parish of our Deanery of Queensland (ROCOR) – including our own choirmaster and parish priest – and was directed by Rev. Dcn Vladimir Bigdan.  It was a joy to be present at the parish during this most melodious and beautiful service.Continue Reading

On 10-11 February 2012 His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion made an archpastoral visit to the Holy Annunciation Parish, celebrating Vigil and Divine Liturgy and ordaining Andrew Smith to the rank of Deacon.

The Holy Relics of Saint Innokenty of Irkutsk were also present in the church for veneration.

Deacon Andrew is assigned to the Holy Annunciation parish.

Over 25-26 November the Holy Wonderworking Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God was taken by plane to Brisbane by its guardian Deacon Nicholas Olhovsky. There the Icon visited the Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Kangaroo Point and the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God Church in Rocklea.Continue Reading

The Brisbane Clergy will be concelebrating an All Night-Vigil with Akathist, 6pm Friday 25th November at St. Nicholas Cathedral, 344 Vulture Street, Kangaroo Point.  Divine Liturgy will be 8:30am Saturday 26th November at Our Lady of Vladimir Church, 14A Douglas Street, Rocklea.

His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia officiated at the celebration of the patronal feast day of the parish of the Holy Annunciation in Brisbane. This event marked a number of historic firsts – firstly, it was the first time that a bishop has served at the parish in 22 years. More importantly, it was also the first time that Metropolitan Hilarion has visited the parish since it was canonically received into the Australian and New Zealand Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia from the Orthodox Church of America approximately two years ago. Most importantly, it was also the first time that any bishop of the ROCOR has ever visited or served the parish since its founding in 1974.Continue Reading
