						1 [VIC] Catechism Class - The Holy Protection Cathedral Of The Russian Orthodox Church [VIC] Catechism Class - The Holy Protection Cathedral Of The Russian Orthodox Church August 1, 2026 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm Dearest parishioners, catechumens and inquirers. A reminder that there will be catechism class this coming Saturday the 1st of August, starting at 4:30pm in the church hall. For those willing and able, we ask if you could please help us set up and pack away chairs as necessary on the day. This weeks class will focus on 'Session 10 - The Mother of God and the Incarnation'. Please see synopsis below. "From an Orthodox perspective, it is essential that we have the correct understanding of Mary, the mother of God, in order for us to have a correct understanding of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God. If the Mother of God’s image is distorted, so too is the image of her Son. What this session will focus on is the Orthodox veneration of the Mother of God as the Theotokos, the God bearer, and how it was necessary for Christ to be born of a virgin for the salvation of humanity. We will also explore how God, in his love and mercy for humanity, took on human flesh and became man, and was the God-man, containing both human and divine natures which were in unconfused, indivisible, immutable and inseparable union through the person of Jesus Christ." As previously mentioned, our in-person classes will contain a 5-10 minute summary of the important aspects of each session, and we ask that you come to class prepared, having listened to the session recording for this weeks class, and with questions for an open group discussion.
