29 Oct 24: Holy Protection Church Cabramatta NSW celebrates its patronal feast day
On October 14, 2024, His Eminence Archbishop George of Sydney Australia and New Zealand together with His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Holy Protection Church in Cabramatta NSW for its patronal feast day. 13 Oct 24: His Eminence Archbishop George together with His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Strathfield
On the 15th Sunday after Pentecost, His Eminence Archbishop George of Sydney Australia and New Zealand together with His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Strathfield. The Cathedral clergy joined them in co-serving the service.
The sermon delivered by Vladyka Gabriel focused on the Gospel reading of the day, encouraging the faithful to draw spiritual lessons and apply them in their daily lives.
The choir, under the skilled direction of Andrei Laptev, sang beautifully during the Divine Liturgy, enhancing the service’s spiritual atmosphere with their harmonious voices. (more…)
12 Jun 23: St Nicholas Cathedral in Queensland celebrates its centennial
On May 27-28, 2023, Brisbane celebrated the 100th anniversary of the first Orthodox parish in Australia. Hundreds of parishioners of this and other Orthodox churches from different cities of Australia and invited high-ranking guests gathered at St Nicholas Church in Brisbane on the occasion of the centenary of the parish. The service was attended by three bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and about 70 clergy. Orthodox Christians of Brisbane had never seen such a large-scale event. (more…)
12 Jun 23: Приход Николаевского собора в Квинслэнде отметил свое 100-летие
Первый в Австралии храм русской православной общины отметил в воскресенье, 28 мая, свое 100-летие торжественным богослужением и концертом.
В честь праздника в Николаевский русский православный собор в Брисбене прибыли священнослужители из разных австралийских православных приходов и гости из зарубежных стран. «Сегодня очень значимый для нашего прихода день, потому что наш храм, самый древний православный собор Австралии, празднует свое 100-летие со времени основания. Этот собор, открыв однажды свои двери для православных, не закрывал их никогда, принимая прихожан, прибывших из послереволюционной России, а затем тех, кто пережил ужасы Великой Отечественной войны и по каким-то причинам оказался здесь. За годы его существования тысячи православных христиан здесь молились и получали благословение, здесь служили замечательные священники, и сегодня юбилей этого храма – это наш общий праздник», – сказал один из прихожан церкви. Мы встретились и смогли задать вопросы владыке Гавриилу в монастыре в посёлке Кентлин во время его визита в Австралию.
– Ваше Высокопреосвященство, в этом году Вам исполнилось 50 лет. Среди множества писем, которые Вы получили к юбилею, было поздравление от Святейшего Патриарха Московского и Всея Руси Кирилла. Много лет вы трудились в Синоде РПЦЗ в Нью-Йорке. Но ведь родились и выросли Вы здесь, в Австралии. Как часто Вам удаётся побывать на родине?
– Я стараюсь хотя бы раз в году побывать здесь. У меня в Австралии остались братья и сестры, немало племянников, двоюродных братьев и сестёр и других родственников. Вся моя семья здесь, поэтому мне особенно приятно бывать в Австралии. (more…)

On Tuesday 15 November 2011 the Holy Kursk-Root Icon was brought to the Saint Nicholas Church in Fairfield.
An Akathist to the Mother of God was led by His Grace Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada together with Archpriest Nikita Chemodakov, Dean of New South Wales and rector of the Saint Nicholas Church, together with Archpriest Boris Ignatievsky, rector of the Holy Protection Church in Cabramatta, along with Protodeacon Herman Polorotov and Deacon Nicholas Olhovsky. On Saturday 5 November 2011 the Holy Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God was brought to the Protection of the Holy Virgin parish in Cabramatta.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad together with the rector Archpriest Boris Ignatievsky, Deacon Ivan Bots and visiting clergy. His Grace Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada was also present. (more…)
4 Nov 11: Our Lady of Kazan Convent, Kentlyn, Feast Day and arrival of wonderworking Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God – 4 November 2011
The Convent of our Lady of Kazan, “New Shamordino”, in Kentlyn, celebrated its Feast Day on 22 October / 4 November 2011. In the morning the Blessing of Water was celebrated by Hieromonk Euthemy with Protodeacon Herman Polorotov.
Soon after the blessing of water the ringing of bells signified the arrival of Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
His Eminence served the Divine Liturgy together with His Grace Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada and six priests and three deacons.
At a “Mercy of Peace” the spiritual joy of the parishoners was greatly increased by the arrival of the wonder-working Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God with it’s guardian Deacon Nicholas Olhovsky who were brought to the Convent directly from the airport by the Dean of New South Wales, Archpriest Nikita Chemodakov. On 21 October/03 November 2011 on the occasion of his Names Day (the commemoration of Saint Hilarion the Great, Saint Hilarion of the Kiev Caves and Saint Hilarion, Metropolitan of Kiev) His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Diocesan Cathedral of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
Serving with His Eminence were His Grace, Bishop Irinej of Australia and New Zealand of the Serbian Orthodox Church and 11 priests and 5 deacons. His Grace Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada prayed in the altar. (more…)
