Первый в Австралии храм русской православной общины отметил в воскресенье, 28 мая, свое 100-летие торжественным богослужением и концертом.
В честь праздника в Николаевский русский православный собор в Брисбене прибыли священнослужители из разных австралийских православных приходов и гости из зарубежных стран. «Сегодня очень значимый для нашего прихода день, потому что наш храм, самый древний православный собор Австралии, празднует свое 100-летие со времени основания. Этот собор, открыв однажды свои двери для православных, не закрывал их никогда, принимая прихожан, прибывших из послереволюционной России, а затем тех, кто пережил ужасы Великой Отечественной войны и по каким-то причинам оказался здесь. За годы его существования тысячи православных христиан здесь молились и получали благословение, здесь служили замечательные священники, и сегодня юбилей этого храма – это наш общий праздник», – сказал один из прихожан церкви. В праздник Входа Господня в Иерусалим, Преосвященнейший Георгий епископ Сиднейский и Австралийско-Новозеландский совершил богослужения в Петропавловском кафедральном соборе в Стратфилде. Его Преосвященству сослужили ключар собора, протоиерей Георгий Лапардин, иерей Михаил Сторожев и протодиаконы Александр Котларов и Мартын Наеф. Хор пел торжественно под управлением Андрея Лаптева. On Saturday, 4th February 2023, His Grace Bishop George of Sydney Australia & New Zealand arrived at the Holy Trinity parish located at the Huon district in Tasmania which is approximately one hour drive from Hobart.
For many years the rector Fr George Morozoff conducted services in his home, on the outskirts of Hobart. It was when his father died 17 years ago, he came up with the idea to build a church on a 200-acre property belonging to his parents. Upon receiving a blessing from Metropolitan Hilarion, Fr George commenced building the church which took approximately 13 years. The church was named after the Holy Trinity as Fr George received the blessing to commence the building on the feast of the Holy Trinity. (more…)

On Friday, 6th and Saturday 7th of January 2023, the feast of The Nativity of Christ, His Grace George, Bishop of Sydney Australia and New Zealand lead the services at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral, Strathfield. Co-served with his Grace were the cathedral clergy.
During the communion of clergy, the Epistle of His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad was read. (more…)

On Saturday, 26 November 2022, Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church, Brisbane, was privileged to host His Grace, the Right Reverend George, Bishop of Sydney, Australia and New Zealand. Approaching the church, he was greeted by the altar servers, and blessed two to wear the cassock and enter the church. He was then welcomed by Mr Katavic, Warden, who gave a customary greeting of bread and salt, while the choir, led by Mrs Sams, sang ‘From the Rising…’.

On Monday, 26 September 2022, the eve of the feast of The Exaltation of the Life-Giving Cross, His Grace George, Bishop of Sydney Australia and New Zealand celebrated the All-night vigil at Sts Peter and Paul’s Cathedral, Strathfield. Co-serving with His Grace were the cathedral clergy.
During the Great Doxology, Bishop George wearing all vestments carried the Cross to the middle of the church and the rite of the Exaltation of the Cross was served.
The rite of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was established in Jerusalem shortly after the finding of the Cross by Saint Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine in memory of that event and also the restoration of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. (more…)
