Bowing down to Christ, the Giver of Life, together with the entire Church, I fervently pray for His mercy, that He grant us the unearthly, desired peace that He gave His disciples, and blesses our prayerful and fraternal communion in His name. His Grace Bishop George of Canberra celebrates services from Holy Thursday to Holy Saturday at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, Strathfield.
On Sunday, 1 April 2018 the feast day of the Lord’s Entrance into Jerusalem, His Grace Bishop George of Canberra celebrates the divine services at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral. Co-celebrating with His Grace were the cathedral dean Archpriest George Lapardin, protodeacon Alexander Kotlaroff and deacon Michael Storozhev. The Cathedral was full with the faithful and the choir lead by Andrei Laptev sang reverently.
At the completion of the liturgy, Bishop George congratulated protodeacon Alexander with his 20th anniversary serving as a deacon. Many years was intoned. (more…)
On 18 March 2018, the 4th Sunday of Great Lent, an unusually warm autumn day for the nation’s capital, His Grace Bishop George of Canberra celebrated the divine services at St John the Baptist Cathedral Canberra.
This was a special day as Bishop George tonsured and ordained a new generation of clerics to serve at the St. John the Baptist Cathedral and the St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco Mission in Gunning respectively.
During the reading of the hours, Andrew Dobson and Sergei Sheh were tonsured into readers. Reader Stephen David was ordained into a subdeacon then following the Eucharistic canon subdeacon Stephen was ordained into the diaconate. (more…)
On the 3rd Sunday of Great Lent when the Church commemorates the Holy Cross, His Grace Bishop George served the divine services at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield. Co-serving with His Grace were, Archpriest George Lapardin, dean of the cathedral, Protodeacon Alexander Kotlaroff, Deacon Michael Storozhev, clerics of the cathedral and Deacon Paul Tokareff cleric of St Nicholas church Adelaide.

Великий пост в 2018 году будет длиться с 19 февраля по 7 апреля. Накануне, мы побеседовали с настоятелем Покровского храма в Кабраматте, протоиреем Борисом Игнатьевским о том, как правильно подготовиться к Великому посту.
— Отец Борис, почему к Великому посту надо готовиться?
— Любой путь мы начинаем тогда, когда знаем о его цели. Серьезное отношение к посту означает, что мы воспримем его как духовный призыв, требующий ответа, решения и постоянного, непрерывного усилия. Мы знаем, что именно для этой цели Церковь установила приготовительные недели к Великому посту. Это и есть время для ответов и решений. (more…)
Трогательные слова молитвы святого праведного Симеона Богоприимца “Ныне отпущаеши раба Твоего…” приобрели для приснопамятного Архиепископа Павла особенное значение: он скончался в день праздника Сретения Господня, через день после кончины своего преданного многолетнего секретаря и друга, протоиерея Николая Гранта, скончавшегося 14-го февраля, т.е. в канун праздника. Эти дни в приходах Сиднейской и Австралийско-Новозеландской епархии всегда отмечаются совершением заупокойных богослужений с поминовением Архиепископа Павла и протоиерея Николая. Можно думать, что у этих двух людей была большая духовная связь и Господь призвал их почти одновременно. (more…)
