Day 3, 6 February 2008

On Wednesday morning Vladyka Hilarion, Fr Michael, Fr Alexei and Roberto Leon visited the senior clergyman of the Chilean diocese – Archimandrite Benjamin (Wosniuk). No one knew how the meeting with Fr Benjamin would proceed, since even prior to the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion (in May of 2007) he had ceased commemorating his lawful Church hierarchy. However, Fr Benjamin received the archbishop and those accompanying him in a courteous and friendly manner. He spoke with the archbishop and Fr Michael regarding his stance on the question of Church unity. He conveyed his misgivings concerning the present Church situation and cited many examples from history which, in his opinion, support his point of view. Mother Abbess Juliana arrived during the conversation and attentively listened to all that Fr Benjamin, Vladyka and Fr Michael said. Despite the fact that no consensus was reached on the question of the restoration of ecclesiastical unity and both Fr Benjamin and Mother Juliana remain with their previous opinion, both of them parted with the archbishop and those with him on a friendly note. Any further decision concerning their personal relationship to what has transpired depends fully on whether they wish to accept that the conciliar decision of the entire Russian Orthodox Church was in accordance with God’s will and subject themselves to their lawful Church authorities. Tретий день, 6 февраля 2008 года.

В среду утром Владыка Иларион, о. Михаил, о. Алексей и Роберто Леон направилсь к старейшиму священнослужителю чилийской епархии – архим. Вениамину (Вознюк). Никто не знал какова будет встреча с о. Вениамином, который ещё до подписания акта о каноническом общении (в мае 2007), перестал поминать своё законное священноначалие. Однако, о. Вениамин принял владыку и его спутников добродушно и уважительно. Он беседовал с владыкой и о. Михаилом о его отношении к вопросу о церковном единстве. Он выссказал владыке его переживания и приводил много исторических примеров которые, по его мнению, поддерживали его точку зрения. Во время беседы зашла мать игумения Иулиания, которая с большим вниманием слушала всё, что говорил о. Вениамин, Владыка и о. Михаил. Несмотря на то, что реально не было достигнуто консенсуса по вопросу о восстановлении церковного единства и, что о. Вениамин и матушка Иулиания, остались при своём прежнем мнении – всё таки о. Вениамин и мать игумения расстались с владыкой и иже с ним по хорошему. Дальнейшее решение их личного отношения к совершившемуся полностью зависит от их желания или не желания принять за волю Божию соборное решение всей Русской Православной Церкви и подчиниться своему законному церковному священноначалию. The next day Archbishop Hilarion, Fr. Michael, Fr. Alexei and other representatives of the Russian Orthodox community went to meet with the ambassador of the Russian Federation in sth_america_day02- – His Excellency, Yuri Anatolievich Filatov.

The embassy of the Russian Federation is located in one of the wealthier suburbs of Santiago. Though grand and new on the outside the embassy moreover sparkles with the Russian spirit on the inside.

One of the staff of the embassy, Roman Zaureyevich, met the archbishop and his suite of representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church and accompanied them to a large assembly room where they were to meet with the ambassador. (more…)

На следующий день владыка Иларион, о. Михаил, о. Алексий и другие представители русской православной общественности направились на встречу с послом Российской Федерации в Чили – Юрием Анатольевичем Филатовым.

Посольство Российской Федерации находится в одном из лучших районов Сантьяго. Богатое новое здание из вне, более красуется русским духом внутри.

Встречая группу представителей РПЦЗ, сотрудник посольства Роман Зауреевич, провел владыку и его сопровождающих в зал где должна была произойти встреча с послом. Позже в зал зашёл Юрий Анатольевич и познакомлся с владыкой, о. Михаилом и другими членами группы. (more…)

According to the directive of His Eminence, the Most Reverend Metropolitan Laurus, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), His Grace, the Most Reverend Archbishop Hilarion of Sydney Australia and New Zealand, the First Deputy of the First Hierarch of ROCOR, and his secretary Archpriest Michael Boikov, arrived in Santiago, the capital of Chile. Metropolitan Laurus, being concerned about the spiritual needs of the children of ROCOR who live in South America purposefully sent Vladyka Hilarion to visit the clergy and the laity in the countries of Chile, Brazil and Argentina.

At the Santiago airport Vladyka Hilarion and his travelling companion, Archpriest Michael were given a VIP welcome, with the cooperation of the customs authorities, by Priest Alexei Aedo and Dr Elizabeth Jurlow, representatives of the St. Nektarios mission. (more…)

По поручению Его Высокопреосвященства, Высокопреосвященнейшего Митрополита Лавра, Первоиерарха Русской Православной Церкви Заграницей (РПЦЗ), Его Преосвященство, Преосвященнейший Архиепископ Иларион, Cиднейский и Австралийско-Новозеландский, Первый Заместитель Первоиерарха РПЦЗ, и его секретарь, протоиерей Михаил Бойков, прибыли в город Сантьяго, столицу Чили. Митрополит Лавр, переживая о недостатке духовного окормления чад РПЦЗ, проживающих в Южной Америке, нарочито командировал Владыку Илариона, чтобы посетить духовенство и мирян в Чили, Бразилии и Аргентине.

В аэропорту г. Сантьяго владыку Илариона и его спутника, протоиерея Михаила, особо почётно встретили, при содействии таможних властей, священник Алексий Аэдо и д-р Елизавета Георгиевна Юрлова, представители Свято-Нектариевской общины. (more…)
