2026 Lenten Clergy Conference – Brisbane

After arrival and prayer the previous day the Clergy conference the proceedings on Wednesday Morning began with a solemn and beautiful Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts concelebrated by Archbishop George and Diocesan Clergy at St Nicholas Cathedral. Many local parishioners took the opportunity to attend this service also and to hear the beautiful Lenten Hymns sung by the Cathedral Choir and also the Children of St John of Kronstadt Academy.

After a fulfilling lunch provided by the Cathedral sisterhood the afternoons agenda began with a presentation entitled “Trauma, Vigilance and the Shepherds mind” by Angelina Conias of empowering minds therapy. This interactive session focused on an introduction to understanding and recognising trauma both in the flock but also in the Clergy to ensure they are also managing the balance in their lives in order to be at their best for their flock. The content along with the working sessions in this was enriching and also pointed to areas to go deeper at future conferences.

Father Michael Protopopov then presented a short talk on forgiveness followed with engaging questions. Protodeacon Paul Tokareff shared a follow up from the Diocesan Assembly regarding centralised work on procuring communion wine, along with some taste testing. A final general Q&A and with prayer the day finished. Glory to God.
