29 Oct 24: Holy Protection Church Cabramatta NSW celebrates its patronal feast day
On October 14, 2024, His Eminence Archbishop George of Sydney Australia and New Zealand together with His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Holy Protection Church in Cabramatta NSW for its patronal feast day. Co-serving with the hierarchs were Archpriest Boris Ignatievsky, who marked 30 years in the priesthood, along with neighbouring clergy and Archpriest Seraphim Chemodakov and Protodeacon Nathan clerics of the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign” in New York
The church was filled with faithful, and everyone received the Holy Communion from three chalices. The choir, directed by Reader Eustratius Papageorgiou, sang beautifully, enhancing the spiritual atmosphere of the service.
During the reading of the 6th hour, Vladyka George tonsured Emanual Papageorgiou to the rank of Reader.
After a procession around the church, Vladyka George congratulated everyone on the feast and extended special congratulations to Fr. Boris on his anniversary, presenting him with a jewelled cross as a gift. The sisterhood then provided a beautiful lunch for all, adding to the joy and fellowship of the celebration.
