19 May 09: Holy Annunciation Parish, Brisbane accepted into ROCOR
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Christ is Risen!
The Orthodox Church of the Holy Annunciation at 163 Park Rd Wooloongabba, with God’s help will soon begin services.
The coming Saturday (this refers to the past Saturday, 16th May – webmaster) commencing at 8:00am we will be holding a general clean up of the grounds and church building. As you can imagine as the church has not been used for several years there is a lot of work to be done. If anyone is able to come and lend a hand even for a short time it would be greatly appreciated. If you have access to items that can be used for cutting back trees etc or cleaning materials for inside the church then please also bring them along… if you have access to a ute or trailer that too would be handy to help with rubbish runs.
We hope to commence services the following weekend and as soon as I can confirm that I will post with the details but at this stage I expect we will serve Matins on Saturday the 23rd of May at 6:00pm and Liturgy at 8:00am on Sunday morning.
The parish will be an English Language parish of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The parish council has petitioned Metropolitan Jonah to be released from the Orthodox Church of America and His Beatitude has expressed his willingness to grant such a release from the OCA to ROCOR and we now are just awaiting the official paperwork to come through. Both Metropolitan Hilarion and Metropolitan Jonah have blessed me to serve there until that happens after which I will be transferred there permanently.
The Parish Council and I humbly ask for your prayers.
With Love in our Risen Lord Jesus Christ!
May God be with you!
Theos mazi sou!
c Bogom!
