On 14 April 2024, the 4th Sunday of Great Lent dedicated to St John of the Ladder (Climacus), His Grace George, Bishop of Sydney Australia & New Zealand made an archpastoral visit to the Holy Protection parish in Cabramatta. : His Grace George Bishop of Sydney Australia & New Zealand celebrates the 3rd Sunday of Great Lent and the feast of Annunciation at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield

On 7 April 2024, the 3rd Sunday of Great Lent, Veneration of the Holy Cross and the feast of Annunciation, His Grace George, Bishop of Sydney Australia & New Zealand celebrated the divine services at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield. Co-served with His Grace were the cathedral clergy.

The Cathedral was filled with the faithful, most of whom received Holy Communion. The choir sang in the spirit of the feast under the direction of Andrei Laptev.

: Australian & New Zealand 2024 Diocesan Great Lenten Pastoral Conference

The Australian & New Zealand Diocesan 2024 Great Lenten Clergy Retreat was held on Tuesday, 2 April and Wednesday, 3 April. The clergy of the diocese headed by His Grace George, Bishop of Sydney Australia & New Zealand gathered at All Saints of Russia Church, Croydon Tuesday evening where matins was served. During the service, the participating clergy had an opportunity to take confession prior to receiving Holy Communion the following day. (more…)

: His Grace Bishop George celebrates the Divine Liturgy on the second Sunday of Great Lent at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield

On 31 March 2024, second Sunday of Great Lent, where the Church celebrates St Gregory Palamas, two liturgies were served at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield – English Liturgy at 7am and a Slavonic Liturgy at 9am. His Grace George, Bishop of Sydney Australia and New Zealand celebrated the Divine Liturgy at 9am. Co-serving with Bishop George were the Cathedral clergy.

During the sermon, Bishop George spoke on the Gospel reading where Christ forgave the sins of the paralytic and then healed his paralysis, demonstrating the importance of forgiveness of his sins before healing his paralysis. (more…)

: Cheesefare Sunday His Grace George Bishop of Sydney Australia and New Zealand celebrates the divine Liturgy at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield

On 17th March 2024, the Cheesefare Sunday or Sunday of Forgiveness, His Grace George, Bishop of Sydney Australia and New Zealand celebrated the divine Liturgy at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield. Co-serving with Bishop George were the cathedral clergy.

During the sermon Bishop George stressed the importance of receiving Holy Communion throughout Great Lent and asking God for help to hold the fast not only for the first and last week but for the entire duration of Great Lent.

Following the dismissal of liturgy, the service for the Rite of Forgiveness commenced with members of the parish and clergy asking each other for forgiveness.

: His Grace Bishop George celebrates the feast of The Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield

On Saturday, 6th January 2024, the eve of The Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His Grace Bishop George of Sydney Australia and New Zealand served the Great Compline, Litiya and Matins at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield. Co-serving with His Grace were the Cathedral clergy. The following morning, the Cathedral clergy greeted Bishop George and the Divine Liturgy commenced.

The Cathedral was filled with the faithful, most of whom received Holy Communion. The choir sang in the spirit of the feast under the direction of Andrei Laptev. The Nativity Epistle from Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad was read to the faithful. (more…)
