On 19 December 2017, the feast day of Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Brisbane celebrated it’s patronal feast day.

The Divine services were lead by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion in the assistance of the clergy from the Queensland deanery.

: His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion arrives in Australia

His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, Archbishop of Australia and New Zealand has arrived in Australia.

Metropolitan Hilarion is moved to be back in his favourite Diocese and is expected to stay until 22 January 2018.

On Sunday, 17 December 2017 His Eminence together with His Grace Bishop George served the Divine Liturgy at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield. Please refer to the photo report below. (more…)

Patriarch Tikhon was chosen by God 1to restore strong leadership to the Russian Church at what was, without doubt, the most difficult moment in its entire history up to that point. The Church faced the phenomenon of revolution as an attempt to rebuild human society without God. The gates of Hades did not prevail. A century later, not just Russia, the whole world is facing the challenge of revolution reinvented as moral revolution. I feel that the Church of Russia, to which we belong, has a unique opportunity to bring to the table its historical experience of dealing with the challenges of revolution, should it accept this mission.
