On Thursday, May 19, 2016, the feast day of Prophet Job the Much-Suffering, His Grace Bishop George of Canberra, Vicar of the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand, celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God Church in Rocklea after which he officiated at the funeral of the late Mitred Protopriest Michael Klebansky. He was joined by 15 priests, three deacons and a large gathering of worshipers, among whom were relatives and the many followers of the late priest. (more…)

On Tuesday, May 17, 2016, the anniversary of the reestablishment of unity within the Russian Orthodox Church (2007), the clergymen of the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand celebrated Divine Liturgy in Holy Virgin Protection Church in Cabramatta, having performed vigil and parastas in the presence of the coffin containing the body of the late Mitred Protopriest Michael Li, who died last week.

After Divine Liturgy, His Grace Bishop George of Canberra, Vicar of the Diocese, led the funeral service to a large gathering of worshipers who came to pray for the late pastor. During the eulogies read at the commemorative luncheon that followed the burial, the clergymen and laity stressed the decades of ascetic life of the priest, who endured a great deal of suffering for the sake of Orthodox Christianity, and his humble nature, humility, hard work and love for divine services. В ночь на 1 мая в Покровском Кафедральном соборе православные Мельбурна вместе встретили и отпраздновали Пасху. В канун праздника Светлого Христова Воскресения мало кто остается спать дома.

В самый главный праздник верующие целыми семьями приходят на праздничную службу в церковь. Полунощная служба началась около 12 ночи, но люди пришли пораньше. Так как с 8 часов шли чтения «Деяния Святых Апостолов», когда любой человек может подойти и прочитать главу на том языке, который является для него родным. В то же время настоятель Покровского собора в Мельбурне отец Николай (Карыпов) проводил освящение пасхальных яств. (more…)

Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church, Brisbane, was pleased to welcome His Grace, Bishop George of Canberra, to preside at our patronal feastday.  On the eve of the feast, after a discussion with some of the youth of our parishes, His Grace arrived at Holy Annunciation.  He was greeted by the clergy of our parish, together with clergy from our Deanery, and the Great Vigil service was celebrated.

The next day, the Lenten Hours and Typika were served.  After this, Bp George was greeted on his arrival, was vested, and proceeded to celebrate the Hierarchal Vesperal Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom – the first Liturgy that His Grace had served at our parish – followed by a cross-procession. With the blessing of His Grace Bishop George, the 51st annual Orthodox Youth Conference – Syezd 2015 – was successfully held from 26-31 December 2015, at Camp Manyung, Mt Eliza, south-east of Melbourne, Victoria. As in previous years, Syezd 2015 provided attendees with the opportunity to learn more about their Orthodox faith as well as meeting many other Orthodox youth from all over Australia and overseas. On Sunday 27 December 2015 Bishop George consecrated the side altar of the Holy Protection Cathedral in Melbourne to Saint Xenia of St. Petersburg.

Concelebrating with Bishop George were Archpriests Nicholas Karipoff (parish rector) , Nicholas Dalinkiewicz, Peter Sheko, Simon Kichakov, Gabriel Makarov, Boris Ignatievsky and Priests James Carles, Alexander Paramonov, a guest priest from overseas and Protodeacons Basil Kozulin, Alexander Abramoff and Deacon Mark Woloszyn. 19 декабря 2015 г. в Брисбене, в столице штата Квинсленд (Австралия) торжественно отметили праздник Святителя Николая Чудотворца Мирликийского. На престольный праздник в Свято-Николаевский собор съехались прихожане из Брисбена и близлежащих городов. В совершении литургии принял участие гость из Америки – протоиерей Серафим Ган, а так же священнослужители пяти храмов Брисбена и Голд Коста (Твид Хедс). Всех с праздником и исполнения чудес по молитвам святого Чудотворца.

18 декабря епископ Георгий Канберрский впервые посетил Аделаиду и пробыл в городе несколько дней. В пятницу служили всенощную с елеопомазанием и освящением хлебов.  В субботу, 19 декабря, перед началом службы состоялось водоосвящение. Праздничное богослужение началось с торжественной Архиерейской встречи. С хлебом-солью Владыку приветствовал староста Свято-Николаевского храма Михаил Владимирович Заглядов.  На службе присутствовали священнослужители из разных православных приходов Аделаиды. В эти дни в Аделаиде была очень жаркая погода: около 40 градусов, а в субботу было 43 градуса. Из-за экстремальной температуры решено было не совершать Крестный ход. В своей проповеди Владыка Георгий обратился к памяти Святого Николая Мирликийского. (more…)
