Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God, Newcastle – October 13-14, 2009
For the parishioners of the church of Saint Nicholas in Wallsend (Newcastle), the feast of the Protection of the Mother of God was this year an occasion of greater significance than usual. This is because it was the sixtieth anniversary of the first patronal feast day of the Hunter Valley’s first Russian Orthodox Church, the Holy Protection Church at Greta Migrant Camp.
The Holy Protection Church at Greta functioned from the arrival in Australia in August 1949 of Archpriest John Lupish (+1977) until the closure of the camp some seven years later. It was, during that time, a refuge and a consolation for many Orthodox Christians who found themselves settled for a time in the camp, having come to begin a new life in Australia after the turmoil of the Second World War.Continue Reading

Престольный праздник в Хобарте
Православная община на Тасмании отметила престольный праздник своего храма в день Воздвижения Честного Животворящего Креста Господня и 60-летие прихода.
По благословения митрополита Илариона, перво-иерарха РПЦЗ, торжественное Богослужение возглавил преосвященнейший Ириней, епископ австралийско-новозеландской епархии Сербской православной церкви. Ему также сослужили настоятель прихода митрофорный протоиерей Михаил Протопопов и сербский архимандрит Теодор Бойевич.
Храм был полон молящимися людьми, среди которых были и русские, и сербы, и греки. Служба велась одновременно на 4-х языках: церковно-славянском, сербском, греческом и английском.Continue Reading

Да, именно с этой оптимистичной песенки кота Леопольда начался ежегодный концерт Русской школы в Кабраматта. Всем известно, что концерт – дело нелёгкое. Особенно, детский концерт. Для школы это событие большого масштаба. Каждый год – это испытание для всех: учителей, родителей и, конечно, детей. Не обходится дело и без слёз, истерик, обид и раздражения. Да, да, милый читатель и зритель! Всё это – обратная сторона медали, которую вы видите на сцене. Каким трудом даётся успешное выступление маленьких артистов знает только тот, кто когда-нибудь принимал участие в подобном мероприятии. Saint Panteleimon Church Feast Day, Gosford
This year, the parish of Saint Panteleimon in West Gosford, on the NSW Central Coast, celebrated its patronal feast over the weekend of Saturday August 8 and Sunday August 9.
The major services were on Saturday August 8, allowing many of the clergy of the Sydney Deanery of the Australian and New Zealand Diocese to be present. On this day, the Orthodox Church keeps the memory of the holy Hieromartyr Hermolaus, the priest who baptised the Great-Martyr Panteleimon.Continue Reading
