4 Mar 12: New Orthodox Church opened in Pakistan
With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion a new Orthodox church was opened in Sargodha, Pakistan on 30th January, 2012.
Rev. Father Adrian Augustus a parish priest from Sydney, Australia traveled to Pakistan to baptise and chrismate 174 people.

4 Mar 12: Maslenitsa in Newcastle, NSW
On Friday, 24 February, close to 100 people gathered in the parish hall of Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, in Wallsend, Newcastle, for an evening of festivity, folk tradition, and friendship. The parish Ladies Auxiliary, together with helpers from the wider Russian community in Newcastle, had cooked over 500 pancakes, and the tables were laden with herring, caviar, smoked salmon, sour cream and cottage cheese. В праздник Сретения Господня митрополит Иларион оказал честь своим присутствием данденонгскому приходу, чтобы отметить 30-летие служения митр. прот. Михаила Протопопова в должности настоятеля Богородице-Успенского храма, а также поздравить прихожан с тем, что в марте этого года отмечается 30-летие первого богослужения в новом храме.
Владыке за праздничной литургией сослужили: настоятель прихода. Митр. прот. Михаил Протопопов, священник Михаил Васильев (ОВЦС), протоиерей Евгений из Иркутска, иеромонах Лука Белл, протодиакон Василий Козулин, протодиакон Александр Абрамов, диакон Самуил Вишневский и иеродиакон Пантелеимон Жигалин. 20 Feb 12: Fundraiser at All Saints of Russia Church, Croydon
The Church of All Proclaimed Saints of Russia in Croydon, Sydney, chose the Sunday of the Prodigal Son, and the Feast of the Three Hierarchs to hold it’s annual ‘shashlik’ (kebab) fundraiser.
Perhaps the timing was not the best because it turned out that the event clashed with a few other orthodox luncheons and so Sydney’s Russian Orthodox Churchgoers were torn between various events.
Thought the turnout was small compared to previous years, the event was a success. The meat used was premium lamb and the accompaniments and beverages on offer were also of high standard. People willingly supported the event with generous donations and the small parish was grateful for the financial assistance. (more…)
20 Feb 12: Ordination at Holy Annunciation Church, Woolloongabba
On 10-11 February 2012 His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion made an archpastoral visit to the Holy Annunciation Parish, celebrating Vigil and Divine Liturgy and ordaining Andrew Smith to the rank of Deacon.
The Holy Relics of Saint Innokenty of Irkutsk were also present in the church for veneration.
Deacon Andrew is assigned to the Holy Annunciation parish.
18 Feb 12: Открытие Православной Миссии на Островах Тонга
Если многие в России считают Австралию краем света, то про королевство Тонга в юго-западной части Тихого океана, состоящее из 176 островов, можно в полной мере сказать, что оно находится за краем света.
Острова Тонга были открыты для европейцев голландскими мореплавателями Виллемом Схаутеном и Якобом Лемером в 1616 году. Английский путешественник Джеймс Кук назвал архипелаг в 1773 году «Островами Дружбы» (англ. Friendly Islands). В 1900 году архипелаг стал британским протежируемым государством. При этом Тонга сохранила все права на самоуправление. Независимость острова получили в 1970 году. Тонга член ООН, Южнотихоокеанской комиссии и Форума тихоокеанских островов. (more…)
