MEDIA RELEASE

The Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in Australia is appalled at the loss of innocent lives in the MH- 17 disaster. There can be no argument to support the deliberate shooting down of a civil aircraft at any time or anywhere.

The Church expresses its sincere condolences to the families of all the victims and prays for the souls of those so tragically lost.

The Church also prays for an end to the conflict which has so dramatically divided the sister nations of Russia and the Ukraine. We urge all nations to assist in finding a peaceful path to negotiations and to stopping the bloodshed in the Lugansk and Donetz Regions of the Ukraine. (more…)

With the blessing of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of Oceania on 19 July 2014 a Pan-Orthodox Divine Liturgy and Memorial Service was held in memory of the 100 year anniversary of World War I. The service was held at the Northcote Greek Orthodox Monastery, Melbourne where members of the clergy of the Greek, Antiochian, Russian, Serbian and Romanian Orthodox Churches in Australia served in their native language.

Впервые по благословению ассамблеи канонических архиереев Австралии и Океании 19 июля этого года состоялась совместная заупокойная литургия с поминовением павших православных воинов в годы Первой Мировой войны.

Литургия состоялась в большом храме греческого монастыря «Достойно Есть» в Мельбурне. В службе приняли участие священнослужители православных Церквей: Греческой, Русской, Сербской, Румынской и Антиохийской. Службу возглавили архиереи Греческой, Сербской и Румынской Церквей, им сослужили по три священника и по одному диакону от каждой Церкви. По благословению митрополита Илариона от РПЦЗ в Австралию прибыл Преосвященнейший Георгий, епископ Мэйфильдский, к сожалению, из-за болезни он не смог присутствовать на службе. (more…)

On Friday the 11th and Saturday 12th July 2014, the feast day of Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, divine services were held in the Cathedral, Strathfield NSW in honour of the parish’s feast day. On Friday evening, the All-Night Vigil was led by His Grace Bishop George of Mayfield with parish clergy Archpriest George Lapardin, Priest Simon Nekipeloff, Protodeacon’s Alexander Kotlaroff, Boris Evstigneev, Deacons Constantine Moshegov, Martin Naef, Edward Waters and clergy from neighbouring parishes.

In the early morning the following day, the lessor blessing of the waters was served by Fr Simon and Deacon Constantine Moshegov. At 9am the clergy greeted His Grace Bishop George and the Divine Liturgy commenced. The cathedral was full with the faithful and the choir lead by Nick Kulikov sang reverently. (more…)

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, His Grace, Bishop George of Mayfield is visiting the Australian & New Zealand Diocese from 9 July 2014 until 24 September 2014. Bishop George will celebrate the divine services in churches of the Diocese, in particular those that will be celebrating their parish feast days.

Дорогие братья и сестры, обращаюсь ныне ко всей Полноте нашей Церкви, ко всем народам исторической Руси.

Не может быть для нас сегодня ничего более важного, чем продолжающееся братоубийство, которое полыхает на территории Украины, унося все новые жизни.

Что происходит сегодня, прежде всего, в Донецкой и Луганской областях, и как следует относиться к происходящему членам нашей Святой Церкви?

В южных пределах исторической Руси разгорелась ныне междоусобная брань.

Результаты кровавого конфликта ужасают. Уже не сотня, как было зимой в Киеве, а многие, многие сотни погибших, тысячи раненых и оставшихся без крова. Лишь дьявол может праздновать победу, когда в сечи сталкиваются братья, уничтожая друг друга, нанося увечья, ослабляя жизненные силы народа. (more…)

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia Addresses the Fullness of the Russian Orthodox Church

Dear Brothers and Sisters, I appeal now to the Fullness of our Church, to all the peoples of historic Rus.

There can be nothing more important for us today than the continuing fratricide which is blazing on the territory of Ukraine, taking away more and more lives.

What is happening today, primarily in the Donetsk and Lugansk oblasts, and how are the members of our Holy Church, to assess it?

In the southern regions of historic Rus, internecine strife has now flared up.

The consequences of the bloody conflict are horrifying. No longer only a hundred, like in Kiev over the winter, but many, many hundreds have died, thousands have been wounded and left homeless. Only the devil can celebrate victory, when brothers take up arms against each other, destroy each other, maim each other, weaken the life-force of the people. (more…)
